I think Halloween is such a fun holiday. Honestly, what isn’t there to love about getting dressed up? I always struggle coming up with couples costume ideas, but this year it was an easy 5-minute decision for me and our Schitt’s Creek Halloween Costumes.
I have talked about my love for the TV show Schitt’s Creek. I just got into the show earlier this year and have been obsessed with the characters and their eccentric outfits ever since. Moira Rose obviously has the most over-the-top wardrobe that is always strictly black and white with plenty of edge. When deciding on the costumes, I did have to debate whether we should be David and Alexis or Moira and Johnny. This decision was difficult because in terms of dressing up, David would have been more fun to emulate than Johnny but Moira was more fun to emulate than Alexis. So, since Moira was more fun to dress up as, we went with Johnny and Moira. Sorry Adam!
The costume options for Moira are truly endless, but I decided to recreate her look from the episode “The Barbecue” from Season 4. Her look in this episode was easy to recreate because I had some items in my closet already and was able to find the other items with no problem. I actually purchased a black leather mini skirt from Amazon earlier in the season to wear normally, but it ended up being perfect for the costume as well. I wore the skirt with this white blouse (another similar option here) that features a black tie at the neck. I needed a pair of bold tights, so I wore these floral print fishnet tights from Target. Last but not least, I needed the short bob that Moira has, so I found the perfect wig on Amazon. This wig has the right length, the same waves and the exact dark blonde color she has. For $26, the wig actually is decent quality and once sprayed down with dry shampoo to take away the shine, it didn’t look so fake. For makeup, I did Moira’s signature look of a smokey eye paired with red lipstick.
For Adam, dressing as Johnny Rose was so simple. He already has plenty of suits, dress shirts, and pocket squares in his closet, and that is Johnny’s attire in every single episode. Adam wore a navy suit, a simple white shirt and white pocket square, and a “JOHNNY” name tag that we made. We colored his hair gray with gray Halloween hair spray from Target, and filled his eyebrows in black and thicker than they usually are. You can’t be Johnny without the signature thick black brows!
If you love the show Schitt’s Creek as much as I do and are looking for an easy couples costume, give this Moira and Johnny look a try. If you have a larger group, you can add David, Alexis, and even Stevie to the mix for a great group costume. Happy Halloween!
