There are so many distinct clothing styles: preppy, classic, edgy, chic, casual, boho. Given my blog name, I think it’s clear which styles represent me well, but sometimes it is fun to incorporate other styles into your wardrobe. I often will add some preppy styles to my wardrobe, but for this outfit, I mixed boho and chic styles into one to make an outfit that is well-suited for me.
Target’s brand A New Day always has blouses that I am attracted to, and this blouse was no different. Typically, I wouldn’t choose this rust color for myself. I love the color, but it doesn’t look the best on me due to my blonde hair and medium skin. Sometimes you just have to ignore things like that if you really like an item and make it work. I liked this blouse for a few different reasons. I love florals, but I am picky about floral prints. I was attracted to the floral print in this blouse because it is a bit unique and abstract compared to your typical floral print. Another detail I like on this blouse is the subtle belled sleeves, which aren’t too large to get in the way but are just enough to be noticeable.
To make this blouse summery, I paired it with a pair of white linen fringed shorts. I like how the white shorts look with the white floral print, and white shorts can make any outfit look summer-inspired. Unfortunately, I bought these shorts from Banana Republic Factory last summer so they are no longer available, but a similar pair can be found here. I am obsessed with the fringed hem, but I have a love-hate relationship with linen. I love the fresh look linen has, but I hate that it wrinkles the instant you put it on. Luckily in this instance, the shorts didn’t wrinkle too terribly. I accessorized this outfit with a cognac belt and cognac woven heels, which I think add to the summery vibe of the look.
This outfit is the perfect balance of chic and boho, making it one that aligns well with my personal style. Until next time!
