Sometimes my fashion preferences are a bit scattered because I love feminine styles, but I also love the look of leather. Leather is often associated with edgier styles, and I am not at all edgy, but over time I have found ways to wear leather with a classic style. Like most things, leather pieces can work into any clothing style all depending on how you style them.
I am a big fan of skirts because I love their versatility. Skirts can instantly change based on what kind of top you wear with them, so I always get plenty of use out of them. I recently spotted this burgundy faux leather skirt at Target and was obsessed! I am in full fall fashion shopping mode right now and I knew this skirt was the perfect fall staple. The color is perfect, the fit is flattering, and the style is very chic. While this skirt could be worn in an edgy way, I decided to go a more classic route which better suits my style.
To keep the outfit really simple and chic, I paired this white button-down shirt with the skirt. A white shirt is always a staple that can make any outfit look classic, and I popped the collar to give the outfit more style. I added these ivory and gold statement earrings, a pair of tan slide-on kitten heel mules, and a tan handbag. I also plan on wearing this skirt with simple neutral-colored sweaters as the weather gets cooler.
I have included more faux leather options below that are all classic in style as opposed to having an edgier look. Sometimes it can be difficult trying to figure out what to wear with certain statement items, so I am giving styling tips and ideas for each item to keep with a consistently classic style:
This jacket not being a moto style but instead a stand-up collar automatically makes the jacket less edgy. The soft blush pink color is very feminine, and this could be styled over a thin white turtleneck sweater and paired with skinny jeans and nude heels for a classic look.
Black Faux Leather Pencil Skirt:
Black leather often naturally looks edgy, but in this silhouette I think it looks sophisticated. Pencil skirts are always associated with business casual attire, so despite the leather material, the sleek silhouette really gives this a more elegant look. Add a simple sweater or a feminine blouse to this skirt and you have a more classic look.
Burnt Orange Faux Leather Skirt:
Another sleek, pencil skirt silhouette and the best color for fall all in one! This skirt can be worn so many ways, but I think a chunky knit neutral-colored sweater and a pair of stiletto heeled ankle boots would be a super chic outfit.
If you are anything like me and love the look of leather but prefer a more refined and classic style of dress, then I hope you found these styling tips helpful and love the linked items as much as I do! Until next time!
