RUST-COLORED RUFFLES

rust colored top

Brown, burnt orange, mustard yellow, and rust all used to be colors that you could only find in stores in the fall months. All of these colors have been in stores throughout 2019 and can be worn easily in the summer, depending on how you style it. This rust colored ruffled top is the perfect example of fall colors in any season.

I actually really like fall tones such as burnt orange, mustard yellow, and rust, but I often feel that they don’t like me back. With having such light blonde hair and medium skin tone (or darker if I am not being too lazy and am keeping up with my sunless tanner) these colors don’t always look the best on me. I used to avoid them but now I just wear them because why not wear something you like?

A few weeks ago, I got my daily email from Old Navy and it advertised adorable one-shoulder ruffled tops for only $10. I usually just glance at these emails and delete, but this one grabbed my attention because $10 is such a bargain. This top comes in four different colors and prints and is made of a comfortable linen material. I chose the rust colored version of the top because it is simple and versatile, and again, I am just attracted to the color. This top would look great with a pair of white bottoms, whether it be a skirt, jeans, or shorts, and it could even go well with a pair of blue jeans. Since it has been so hot and humid in Pittsburgh, I wanted to wear it with a pair of shorts.

I paired the top with these striped seersucker shorts from Banana Republic Factory. These shorts have the classic style I love and seersucker is always a great choice for the summer. The tie-waist is also a nice detail that sold me on the shorts. The rust color pops against the blue and white stripes of the shorts, and while this outfit is casual it definitely has a stylish and put-together look to it. To accessorize the outfit, I added these gold bow statement earrings from Baublebar and these tortoise and gold sunglasses from Forever21. Accessories are always a must for me in any outfit, and both of these are under $20, combined!

Fall will be here before we know it, and I know I will continue wearing this color into that season as well. Until next time!
