SATURDAY MORNING RITUAL

Like most people, I live for the weekends, particularly Saturday mornings. Saturday mornings are my favorite because I still have two whole days off ahead of me and I can just relax and hang out. Over time, I have developed my own little Saturday morning ritual.

I have talked about the importance of cute but comfortable pajamas to me in a prior blog post. If I am lounging around the house I want to be comfortable but I feel a little better about by myself when I am wearing a cute set of pajamas. Target is my favorite place to buy new sets because of their adorable options, comfortable fabrics and great price point. I have this set from Target’s Stars Above brand in two different colors/prints, and I plan on buying more to add to my collection. The fabric is so soft but I also love the simple style of the set as well. The colors and prints are really fun but there is something about the black set that is so classic.

While I am lounging on the couch, I love watching TV. Every weekend I have to debate with Adam to not watch Jurassic Park or Jaws, because both movies are on every single weekend. When I can steer him away from those two movies, we often watch The Office re-runs. If he isn’t around and I have alone time, I use it to catch up on shows like Real Housewives or to watch Schitt’s Creek because it just makes me happy.

A relaxing Saturday morning isn’t complete without coffee. I am often too lazy to go out to Starbucks or Dunkin to get coffee, so I started making my own that is as good as the real thing. And for me, coffee is always iced, never hot, no matter the season. The only hot coffee exception I make is for the Chestnut Praline Latte and the Cinnamon Shortbread Latte from Starbucks in the winter. All other times it is iced coffee for me, and more specifically cold brew. I recently started to buy the boxed make-at-home Starbucks cold brew from Target and it has been a life-changer. The cold brew is so easy to make because all you have to do is place the cold brew packs in a pitcher with cold water and let it steep in the refrigerator for 24 hours. I always make mine on Thursday nights so it is ready to go on Saturday morning. I always need some sort of flavor added to my coffee, so I also buy the Starbucks Vanilla and Caramel syrups from Target. I add a tablespoon of a syrup to a glass of cold brew and then add a bit of the Coldstone Sweet Cream creamer from International Delight. This is a great at-home alternative to Starbucks’ Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew for those lazy mornings when making a coffee-run could not sound less appealing.

If anyone has any weekend morning rituals or even copycat recipes for coffee drinks, please feel free to share below. I have linked my exact pajamas, as well as all of the ingredients I use to make the coffee. Until next time!
